PURPOSE:To facilitate the replacement of a damaged double bottom section of a ship, by arranging a bed member to a position below a hatch opening under the damaged double bottom section of the ship introduced into a dock so that the cut-off damaged section is moved along the bed member to the position below the hatch opening which it is withdrawn and as well a new ship bottom section is introduced through the hatch opening along the bed member. CONSTITUTION:A bed member 6 is laid beforehand on a pedestal wood on a dock bottom so that the member 6 extends to a position below a hatch opening 5 in an upper deck 4 under a damaged double bottom section 18 of a ship 3 introduced in the dock. Double bottom blocks including the damaged section 18 are sequentially cut off from a position directly below the hatch opening 5 and are removed through the hatch opening 5. Double bottom members along the periphery of the hatch opening are horizontally moved with the use of the bed member 6 to the position directly below the hatch section 5. After withdrawing of the double bottom members, new ship bottom parts are introduced through the hatch opening 5, then horizontally moved with the use of the bed member 6, and are then sequentially fixed. With this arrangement, the number of introductions into the dock may be reduced to facilitate the replacement of a damaged double bottom section.
