A process for the continuous preparation of p-phenylene-diamine, starting from a nitrobenzene feedstock (2), through the amination of a p-aminophenol intermediate; the p-aminophenol being effectively recovered, dissolved and transported to an amination zone (34) through the utilization of a class of water immiscible, basic organic solvents.
