PURPOSE:To make the maintenance and generation of a program easy and to generate efficiently and automatically a standardized COBOL source program by dividing and constituting a source code and parameter generating part for the COBOL source program. CONSTITUTION:A COBOL source program generating system is constituted by dividing it into a basic pattern generating and maintaining part 1, file section generating and maintaining part 2, picture section generating and maintaining part 3 and a report section generating and maintaining part 4. A basic pattern file 5 which has stored a basic pattern for generating a program is coupled to this each generating and maintaining part 1; and a file section, picture section, and report section files 6-8 are coupled to each generating and maintaining part 2-4, respectively. Subsequently, in a COBOL source program generating part 9, a source program is generated automatically by combining a COBOL source program generating parameter file 10, and the basic pattern and each section from the files 5-6, and it is stored in a COBOL source program file 11.
