PURPOSE:To permit printing operations with good efficiency by a method in which the remainder of IDF (ink donor film) is continuously displayed from the startup time of recording in a transfer type thermal recorder and also the printable number for recording papers of each size is displayed. CONSTITUTION:According the variation of the turns diameter of an ink donor film (IDF) 2 in a supply roller 1, a slider 10 is moved, a voltage corresponding to the turns diameter is sent out from an IDF remainder detection circuit 12 and displayed through a display control circuit 13 by a displayer 14. In the displayer 14, LED display lamps L1-L7 are arranged correspondingly to the states from no remainder ''0'' to all remains ''1'' and printable numbers a1-a7 and b1-b7 for recording papers A4 and B4 for example are displayed by graduation on the corresponding position of the side of the lamps L1-L7. The remainder of IDF 2 can thus be grapsed at a glance by an operator correspondingly to printable numbers from the lighting position of the lamps L1-L7. |
