PURPOSE:To retain superior whiteness even after various photographic processes by incorporating a fluorescent whitening agent made of a specified stilbene deriv.. CONSTITUTION:The fluorescent whitening agent represented by the formula in which R1 and R2 are each 1-4C alkyl, and M is H or an alkali metal can be synthesized in accordance with the synthesis of the fluorescent whitening agents made of general stilbene derivs.. The kinds of gelatins are not especially limited, and in addition to the gelatin, a polymer, such as PVA and its derivs. or copolymers, etc., may be used in combination. An aq. soln. of said agent is added in a manufacture process so as to add >=5mg per m<2> of the photographic layer, and a higher whitening effect can be obtained by adding it to the uppermost layer. As the photosensitive materials to be aimed at are silver halide photosensitive materials, the image receiving material of diffusion transfer photographic material, and it is especially suitable for a fogged directly positive photosensitive material, and it can be added to the emulsion without impairing the property of the fogged emulsion. |
