CONTINUOUS CASTING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To provide a titled device with which a molten metal is hardly penetratable to both side seals and which prevents wear and damage of the side seals by forming both side seals in such a way that each inside flank thereof has a V-shaped recess and that the inside near the joint part with both barrel seals is thick-walled. CONSTITUTION:A pool 5 is formed of the V-shaped side seals 3 and barrel seals 4 which can contact tightly with the inside surface of the upper half of twin rolls 2 having approximately the same gap G as the thickness of a plate 1. Each seal 3 has the recess 6 shaped into a V shape in the horizontal section and is so formed that the inside near the joint part with the seal 4 is thick-walled. The molten metal accomulates in the pool 5 and is hardly penetratable into the space between the seals 3 and the rolls 2 as a result of sealing by the thick- walled seals 3. The molten metal 8 penetrating slightly into said space is immediately discharged to the inside of the pool 5 on the outside of the seal parts by the rotation of the rolls 2. The solidified matter is thus prevented from intruding into and sticking to the seal parts and therefore the wear of the seals 3 is prevented.
