PURPOSE:To obtain chemically synthesized MnO2 for cell having remarkably improved performance by incorporating chemically synthesized MnO2 cong. partly MnO2 formed by the chlorate reaction to MnO2 formed by the oxidation of MnCO3 as base material. CONSTITUTION:The grade of MnO2 is improved by the oxidation of MnCO3 using pressurized gaseous oxygen or by the acid treatment of oxidized MnCO3 under atmospheric pressure using dil.H2SO4, etc. The obtd. MnO2 is further heat-treated, or oxidized MnCO3 is treated with acid, necessary amt. of Mn salt, chlorate and acid are added to cause reaction. Thus, MnO2 is obtd. by the chlorate reaction. Chemically synthesized MnO2 prepd. by the chlorate reac tion is cong. partly to the MnO2 obtd. from MnCO3, which is heat-treated further to provide the title MnO2 contg. >=70% MnO2 derived from MnCO3, and cong. >=88% MnO2 content and <=1.5% combined water. |
