PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of a finished surface and working efficiency by installing a table for the installation of an article to be polished, cylindrical rotary tool, driving mechanism for varying the relative position between the surface to be polished and the rotary tool, and a free abrasive-grain bath, onto a polishing apparatus. CONSTITUTION:An article 8 to be polished is mounted onto a transfer table not shown in the figure and installed into a free abrasive-grain bath 9. A cylindrical rotary tool 10 is installed so that the revolution shaft is set parallel to the surface to be polished. Said cylindrical rotary tool 10 is revolved at high speed, and the abrasive grains in the form of fine powder is allowed to collide and slide on the surface to be polished, by shifting the article 8 to be polished in the free abrasive grains by the transfer table, and the polishing work with high accuracy is permitted. Since the cylindrical tool 10 is used, the part of the tool which contacts with the surface to be polished through the free abrasive grains increases, and the working efficiency can be increased, and the working time can be reduced. |
