PURPOSE:To accurately correct the position of the vertical deflection of the electron beam by horizontally dividing a part of the focusing electrode into split electrodes which are connected together by resistances and applying a different electric potential to each split electrode. CONSTITUTION:An image display device is constituted of a back electrode 1, a linear cathode 2, vertically focusing electrodes 3 and 3', a vertically deflecting electrode 4, a beam-current-controlling electrode 5, horizontally focusing and deflecting electrodes 6 and 7, an accelerating electrode 8 and a screen 9. A part of the vertically focusing electrode 3' is horizontally divided into vertically focusing electrodes 3' which are coupled together by resistances (R0-Rn) and connected to an external power supply (E0), so that the electric potential gradually changes and the sensitivity of vertical deflection increases toward the left of the screen. Accordingly, it is possible to produce a vertically homogeneous image by correcting the deterioration of the sensitivity of vertical deflection resulting from an electric potential gradient generated by the emission current of the linear cathode 2. |
