A higher oxide or hydroxide of a metal is electrochemically reduced to clean metal or a lower oxide. This is then reacted with water to form hydrogen and is oxidised to a higher oxide or hydroxide which is again electrochemically reduceable. The hydrogen can be burned or stored. - The metal is in the form of a porous body, e.g., sintered, its pore size is pref. 0.1-Microns. The reaction between the metal (or lower oxide) and water is carried out at 40-90 deg. C pref. 60-80 deg. C. (Provisional basic previously advised in week 8725) |
