摘要 PURPOSE:To safely support a building on which a horizontal force is exerted, by a method wherein a recessed bottom having down opening is formed in the bottom of the building, and a granular massive substance foundation, having a projection, with which a filling material is firmly engaged by dint of a pressure, is built to the lower part of the building. CONSTITUTION:A recessed bottom 1d having down opening is formed in the bottom of a building 1. Thereafter, a granular massive substance foundation 4, which has a recessed part 4a, firmly engaged with the bottom 1d, and is formed by a granular massive substance 4' at the under surface of the building, is built to the lower part of the building 1. The foundation 4 is sized to have depth (d) and width L being large enough to allow stress dispersion of a force, exerted on the recessed bottom 1d of the building 1, by means of the granular massive substance 4' and decrease of the degree of ground reaction force on a ground 3a at the under surface of the foundation to below the allowable support force of the ground 3a. This enables reduction in the size and the weight of the building, resulting in the possibility to save a construction cost, and permits maintenance of safety of the structure for a long time.
