PURPOSE:To enhance the adhesiveness or adhesion of a metal material and a thermoplastic resin and to markedly improve the deterioration tendency of adhesion with the elapse of time, by acting water-insoluble fatty acid upon the surface of the high temp. metal material in a gaseous phase. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a metal material is held to 150 deg.C or more, pref., 180-300 deg.C and water-insoluble fatty acid, pref., 6-28C saturated fatty acid such as caproic acid or stearic acid or 11-20C unsaturated fatty acid such as oleic acid or linolic acid is acted on the surface of said metal material in a gaseous phase to form a fatty acid coating layer with a thickness of 1-100Angstrom on the surface of the metal material.
