PURPOSE:To prevent a device from invasion of a foreign material in the device in error by providing a means releasing the lock in response to the operation of a detecting means identifying the width of a cassette and other object when no cassette is loaded. CONSTITUTION:The interval between detecting members 3, 3' is set narrower than the width of a cassette 1 when no cassette is loaded, a turning cover 5 is locked by a slide cover 6 in press contact with the rear side of cover 5 in this case. Further, the detecting members 3, 3' are moved in driections B, B' respectively by loading or ejection of the cassette 1, and the cassette 1 and an object having a smaller width are identified by turning both detection levers 4, 4' so as to release the lock of the slide cover 6. Thus, even if an object having a smaller width than that of the cassette 1 is pressed into contact with any taper of the detecting members 3, 3', both the detecting levers 4, 4' are not operated at the same time and the slide cover 6 is not moved, then the locking to the turning cover 5 is not released.
