PURPOSE:To provide a sealing device which is thin and has a longer service life by making one of magnetic pieces thinner than the other and filling magnetic fluid into the clearance of either the magnetic pieces or magnets. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic piece 3 is made thinner than a magnetic piece 4, and the inner diameter of the magnetic piece 3 is made larger than the inner diameter of the magnetic piece 4. Magnetic fluid 9 which has a suitable viscosity and respond to the magnetic flux density is filled and retained in the smallest clearance (c) formed between the surface of a shaft 1 and the inner circumferential surface of the magnetic piece 4. As the magnetic fluid 9 is filled only in the clearance (c), the heat dissipation capability is substantially increased, and the vaporization of the magnetic fluid is prevented. As a result, the thickness of a sealing device can be made smaller. |
