PURPOSE:To enable the engaging of gears to be performed even in case of the new riding of a car with a slight force by a method wherein the main body of a friction member is made of fiber material, a friction adjusting agent and a filler agent are added to the friction member, these members are solidified with a binder to make a combined assembly and a resin covering layer is formed on the surface of the main body of the friction member. CONSTITUTION:A main body of friction member 4 is made of fibrous materials such as asbestos, pulp, glass fiber and metallic fiber and the like as its base material, and firction adjusting agent and a filler material such as graphite, barium sulfate and the like are added to the base material, these materials are solidified with a binder such as phenol resin and the like so as to make a unified assembly. A coated layer 6 of melamine denaturalization phenol resin is formed at the surface of the main body of the friction member, thereby a gear is engaged with another member with a slight force even in case of starting a new car. |
