PURPOSE:To prevent crosstalk and loss due to ellipticity when linear polarized light is reflected by the optical circulator which has reflecting mirrors. CONSTITUTION:This circulator consists of a magnetooptic effect plate 1 which changes the polarization direction of light by 45 deg., a rotary polarizing anisotropic crystal plate 2, the 1st and the 2nd polarizing prisms 4 and 5, and two reflecting mirrors 121 and 122 which couple the 1st and the 2nd polarizing prisms optically, and those reflecting mirrors 121 and 122 are so arranged that the direction of the linear polarized light before incidence is at right angles or in parallel to the reflecting mirrors. When an Al mirror is used as the reflecting plates, the ellipticity of reflected light is minimized. |
