A seed disk (28) rotates inside a housing (14, 16) between a seed chamber and a vacuum chamber. The vacuum acts through holes through the disk and single seeds are picked up in cells on the seed chamber side (42) of the disk (28) and carried round to a discharge chute. In order to clean out debris from the seed chamber a narrow gap (82) is provided between the margin of the disk and a facing strip (68) attached to the housing. The gap is too narrow for seeds to escape. To promote the escape of debris through the gap to a slot (94) in the housing, the strip (66) tapers so that the gap enlarges radially outwards and, around the margin of the disk (28), there is formed a series of recesses (91) separated by ribs. Different disks (28) are mounted on a hub of the seed meter with different spacers which determined the size of the gap (82) appropriate to the seed to which the disk is adapted.
|
