PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a synthetic intermediate in high yield at low cost, rearranging an alkyl heptafluoroisobutenyl ether by the use of a phase transfer catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An alkyl heptafluoroisobutenyl ether shown by the formula I (R is alkyl) is rearranged by the use of a phase transfer catalyst (e.g., quaternary ammonium compound), to give the desired compound shown by the formula II. Preferably an amount of the phase transfer catalyst used is usually >=0.0001mol based on 1mol raw material. Preferably the reaction is usually carried out in the absence or presence of a solvent (e.g., benzene), and the reaction temperature is room temperature - the boiling point of the raw material ether. The raw material ether shown by the formula I is simply obtained by treating an alkyloctafluoroisobutyl ether shown by the formula III in an alkali aqueous solution. |
