PURPOSE:To produce alloy powder having excellent compressibility and sinterability as a raw material for carbide dispersion-strengthened ferrous sintered alloy parts by pulverizing a molten steel contg. a specific amt. of Cr and contg. oxygen at not so much low rate by a water atomizing method. CONSTITUTION:The power formed by melting an alloy steel contg. 0.4-3.0% C, 3-30% Cr, 0.2-1.0% Si, 0.1-1% Mn, <0.15% O or further 0.5-3.0% 1 or >=2 kinds among Mo, W, V and Nb and grinding the same by a water atomizing method is used as the raw material for carbide dispersion-strengthened ferrous sintered parts which have excellent wear resistance and do not wear the mating part for sliding parts of a rocker arm for an internal combustion engine, etc. The powder of said alloy steel has excellent compressibility and sinterability. Excellent wear resistance is provided to the sintered parts produced of such powder as a result of alloy of the hard metallic carbide.
