PURIFICATION OF FIBROUS HEMAGGLUTININ

PURPOSE:A culture mixture of a bacterium in Bordetella is brought into contact with a polysaccharide gel derivative to which dextran sulfate is chemically bonded to produce F-HA of extremely high purity, through simple operations, which is a biologically active substance used for medical purposes. CONSTITUTION:A culture mixture of a bacterium in Bordetella, preferably Bordetella pertussis is brought into contact with a polysaccharide gel derivative to which dextran sulfate is chemically bonded to effect adsorption of fibrous hemagglutinin (F-HA) under conditions of 6.0-8.0pH, 5.0-25.0ms/cm specific conductivity and 0-30 deg.C temperature. Then, the absorption gel is treated with a buffer solution of 5.0-10.0pH and 25-130ms/cm specific conductivity such as 1.5M sodium chloride-containing phosphate buffer solution to effect elution of F-HA.
