PURPOSE:To obtain an Sm-saving low-cost rare earth element Co magnet by substituting misch metal consisting of light rare earth elements for part of Sm in a 2-17 type rare earth element Co magnet contg. Sm and by adding Mn or Cr. CONSTITUTION:Misch metal consisting of light rare earth elements is substituted for part of Sm in a 2-17 type rare earth element Co magnet contg. Sm, and Mn or Cr is added as an additive to obtain a rare earth element Co magnet having a composition represented by a formula Sm1-xMMxTMz. In the formula, MM is misch metal consisting of light rare earth elements including La, Ce, Pr and Nd, TM is Co-base transition metals and contains <=15atom% at least one between Mn and Cr, z is the atomic ratio of TM to rare earth elements, and x<=0.5. |
