Rapid land surveying using panoramic camera - camera data is processed by computer to determine co-ordinates of many different points

The surveyor chooses a number of measuring positions (A to E) within the area to be surveyed; the only requirments are that each of the points to be surveyed is visible from at least two positions, and that the co-ordinates of two of the points are already known. At each position, a photographic or electronic camera makes a 360 deg. scan exposure. The bearing data from each scan are fed to a computer which then calculates the co-ordinates of all required but unknown points (51,53, etc.).
