PURPOSE:To compensate a delay by an electromagnetic means to ensure a satisfactory brake operation, by independently providing a bypass passage and a check valve for supplying oil into a brake oil chamber in a master cylinder upon rapid depression of a brake pedal prior to energization of the electromagnetic means. CONSTITUTION:Upon abrupt depression of a brake pedal 1 the pressure in a second oil chamber 23 in a hydraulic pressure converting means 20 is increased in association with the forward movement of a push rod 12, and oil from the second oil chamber 23 is not returned into a reservoir tank 28 but forced to flow through a bypass passage 55 into a brake oil chamber 15 while opening a check valve 56. Therefore, the forward movement of the push rod 12 in the master cylinder 2 occurs earlier so that even if the volume expansion of the brake oil chamber 15 is abruptly made and therefore a delay in response operation by an electromagnetic means 40 occurs. The depressing force of the brake pedal 1 is highly responsively boosted up, thereby a satisfactory brake performance may be ensured. |
