<p>The process comprises reaction of 2-amino-3-benzoyl-4,5-tetramethylene thiophene with N-phthalimido-acetic acid in the presence of 1-1-carbonyl diimidazol and in various media to give 2-(N-phthalimido acetylamino)-3-benzoyl -4,5-tetramethylene thiophene. The resulting cpd. undergoes hydrazinolising, with spontaneous cyclising and isolation by concn. and filtration. This gives Bentazepam of formula (I).</p> |
