A vehicle guidance system, in which vehicles are guided along a driving track, having a device for position identification in order to identify positions along the driving track and a device for recording information for controlling the direction of each vehicle along the track system. The device comprises an interrogation element for each vehicle having a coil which can be excited by a high-frequency signal, and an answering element at each station with an identification signal generator for generating a coded signal which represents the identification coding for the station, a second coil on the driving track of the vehicle for the purpose of enabling signal coupling between the two coils when the vehicle passes the answering element as it drives along the driving track, as well as a modulation circuit which reacts to the coded signal in order alternately to activate and deactivate the answering coil in accordance with the information coding, the induction effect between the two coils producing a modulation of the frequency signal with the information coding, which can be detected by the signal detection of the interrogation element. <IMAGE> |
