摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a superconductive electromagnet easy to be precooled, and moreover enlarged with safety in regard to quenching to be generated during operation by a method wherein a superconductive coil is surrounded with a pressure vessel having a coolant path. CONSTITUTION:A superconductive coil 6 is precooled by pouring liquid helium or by flowing supercritical helium in a coolant path 11. After precooling is completed, by flowing supercritical helium in the conduit tube 3 of an inside forcibly cooling superconductor 2 forming the superconductive coil 6, the superconductive coil 6 is made in the superconductive condition, and put in an operation. At this time, precooling is performed from the outside of the superconductive coil 6, and because the sectional area of the coolant path 11 thereof is larger than the space sectional area of the conduit tube 3, precooling can be attained simply and surely, and precooling can be completed in a short time. In case of emergency to generate quenching during operation, and the conduit tube 3 is damaged, and even supercritical helium flows out from the inside forcibly cooling superconductor 2, helium is filled up in a short time in narrow space constructing the coolant path 11 inside of a pressure vessel 12, and at a point in time when pressure is balanced, an outflow of supercritical helium from the damaged place is checked.
