PURPOSE:To perform welding at high efficiency with proper depth of penetration, diameter of deposition and quantity of deposition according to plate thickness even when an upper plate is thick, by superposing an upper plate and a lower plate and then piercing a hole with a diameter calculated by a specific formula, and welding the plates. CONSTITUTION:A hole having a diameter expressed by the following formula is pierced in the upper plate. D0<=(WX4/t1XdeltaXpi)<1/2> where D0=hole diameter, W=quantity of melting of wire, t1=thickness of upper plate, delta=specific gravity of plate. Proper hole diameter changes depending on thickness of the upper plate. It is necessary to make the quantity of melting of the welding wire 6 and the size of the hole (area Xplate thickness). The quantity of melting of the wire 6 in arc spot welding is nearly within a fixed range, and the size of the hole must be smaller than this. When a specified hole (d) is pierced in the upper hole, the arc 5 hits directly on the lower plate 2 immediately after starting by arc pressure, and penetration of the lower plate is formed. With the lapse of time, outer periphery 7 of hole (d) of the upper plate is molten, and further, the welding wire 6 is also molten, and finally, the whole hole is filled up. Deposition diameter C nearly equal to the hole diameter is obtained be tween upper and lower plates, and desired welded plates are obtained. |
