In the case of the cable or conductor connecting socket, which is intended especially for motor vehicles, the screw or plug connections (6, 7) are connected to one another by means of fuse elements (12, 13) between incoming and outgoing cables or leads (16, 17). The fuse elements can be constructed as flat plug-in fuses (12), melting fuses (13), automatic fuses or the like, and the housing cover (3) can be firmly clamped by means of U-shaped wire clips (9, 10) or retaining screws. Since the plug or screw connections (6, 7, 7a) are connected to one another between incoming and outgoing cables or leads (16, 17) by means of fuse elements (12, 13) which are arranged above the plug strip (8), the space-saving arrangement of the screw or plug connections can be supplemented, and accordingly perfected, in a particularly advantageous manner by means of a likewise space-saving arrangement of the fuse elements between the individual connections. <IMAGE>
