The user terminal, enabling a banking database to be consulted, is of the Videotex type 14. It includes a device 30 for transcoding the information, received from the server in Videotex form and stored in a screen memory 22, into a form acceptable to a peripheral 16, 18 for utilising the data, and means enabling, in response to a command emitted by the server, at the end of transmission to the terminal of an information block corresponding to the contents of a Videotex screen, this block to be transferred to a connection socket of the peripheral and an acknowledgement of execution to be emitted at the end of the transfer. <IMAGE>
