Iron fitting for a wing (leaf) 1 of a window, a door or the like, the wing (leaf) being held at its upper end by at least one projection or retention arm 2 housed so as to pivot on the fixed frame 3 or the like, whereas, in addition, the bearing on the fixed-frame side is mounted on that face of the fixed frame oriented towards the inside of the part and the projection or retention arm 2 is connected to this bearing via an intermediate element 9 encasing the vertical jamb located, on the bearing side, on its edge associated with the wing (leaf) 1 and traverses a gap formed between this jamb and a wing (leaf) cowling 20, characterised in that the intermediate element 9 is made from a material having a high strength, especially steel. The invention permits the use of a small standard bearing and makes countersinking on the jamb of the fixed frame unnecessary. <IMAGE>
