The invention describes a device for applying an adhesive tape in a U-shaped manner around the edge of a sheet metal moulding in which it is essential that pressing rollers (22, 23), a pre-folding roller (26) and a guide part (16) are arranged in a single head (1) which is arranged as a whole so as to be pivotable about a supporting axle (4). The axle (4) intersects the axis of rotation of the pre-folding roller vertically and at the same time is aligned so as to be parallel to the axles of the pressing roller (22, 23). Pre-folding roller (26) and pressing roller (22, 23) are arranged directly succeeding one another, the pre-folding part (16) being mounted upstream of the pre-folding roller (26). In addition, the guide part (16), viewed in the axial direction of the pre-folding roller (26), is in each case fitted with a limiting (guiding) collar (39). The device according to the invention has the advantage that the pre-folding roller and the pressing rollers have the least possible distance from one another and that, when a curved sheet metal moulding is passing through the pressing rollers, are deflected about a pivot axis which intersects the axis of the pre-folding roller so that the operating point of the device falls on the pre-folding roller. By this means an especially precise mode of application and an advantageous use of the device in automatic systems are possible. <IMAGE>
