The invention relates to an open holster for handguns, composed of material of stable shape, especially of stiff leather, consisting of two blanks which are connected to one another at the side edges, forming an insertion pocket for the weapon. The invention is characterised in that: a) the (front) blank forming the front side of the holster is so much broader than the (rear) blank forming the rear side of the holster that when they are placed on one another with matching side edges and the two blanks are connected, the front blank is bent out while the rear blank is largely flat, b) there are lugs, which are provided for a belt, on the blanks on both sides of the holster, each having a slot for pulling the belt through, which lugs are bent to such an extent, forming an obtuse angle with the outer surface of the rear blank, that the slots for pulling the belt through are approximately aligned with the outer surface of the rear blank, c) the blanks are connected to one another at the lugs, matched to the side contour of the breech of the weapon, including the trigger guard. <IMAGE>
