The application relates to a superstructure for motor vehicles, in particular for passenger cars, having a rear roof cross-member over which the end region of a bonded-in rear window partially engages. In order to obtain sufficient headroom for the occupants of the rear seats and to obtain a large opening for a sliding roof by moving back the rear roof cross-member, whilst ensuring a good aerodynamic flow around the vehicle, there is provision according to the invention for the cross-member to have two chambers which are located one behind the other in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and are separated from one another at least over a large proportion of the width of the cross-member, between which chambers an at least upwardly open constriction is provided which serves to form a rain channel and which is partially covered towards the top by the rear window.
