The slot closer (6) engages with iron. It is suitable for arrangement in the teeth (7) of winding slots (2) in a dynamo-electric machine (1). The slot closer (6) is characterised by a glass-fibre core (20). The glass-fibre core (20) is impregnated with a cured resin which can be cured by heat. It is covered with a cladding layer on at least two sides (8, 21). The layer consists of a mat of aromatic polyamide fibres. The mat is likewise impregnated with a cured resin which can be cured by heat. The slot closer is firm and has the capability to prevent displacements of the conductors and vibrations. It withstands shear stresses, shrinking and bending under the influence of the pressure of the conductors and of heat. It provides a surface which can be compressed, comes into contact with iron and has considerable elasticity and lubricity. <IMAGE>
