The invention relates to a grab for a material crane for agricultural purposes, having a central support part for the attachment of a lifting device and two gripping jaws which are carried by the central support part, are pivotably arranged on the central support part and can be opened and closed via a hydraulic piston/cylinder arrangement likewise carried by the central support part, the hydraulic piston/cylinder arrangement adjoining the two gripping jaws in such a way that the piston rod of the hydraulic piston/cylinder arrangement is stressed in tension during the closing movement of the two gripping jaws.
