The invention relates to a membrane capsule, which is filled with a fluid which can evaporate, for thermal control of steam traps. The capsule housing consists of two unhardened rotating parts which are welded to one another, the lower capsule part having a threaded connecting piece for screwing into the through-hole of the steam trap. Held in the outlet channel of the lower capsule part, which channel passes through the threaded connecting piece, is a hardened bush having valve seats provided on both sides, the seating cone, which is on the outlet side and interacts with a check device, continuing in the outlet channel as far as the end of the threaded connecting piece, running out into a narrow edge. The entire conical expansion forms the stroke space, which is bounded by a filter plate, for the check device.
