PURPOSE:To make an IC card resist against electric shock such as static electricity and to prevent the IC card from illegality due to the rewriting of the contents of a memory by enbedding light emitting elements and photodetecting elements in a card base body an transmitting/receiving a data signal as an optical signal. CONSTITUTION:When the IC card 20 is set up on a card reader 26, driving voltage and data writing voltage are supplied to the IC card 20. When a crystal oscillation signal of an oscillator 36, a data signal of a serial data transmission/ reception interface 46 and a reset signal of the serial data transmission/reception interface 46 are converted into optical signals through the light emitting elements 39a-39c and transmitted from the card reader 26 side, respective signals are received by the photodetecting elements 23a-23c on the IC card 20 side and supplied to a CPU27. The CPU27 executes programs specified by the respective signals to rewrite or read out data in a data storage part 28 e.g. and the read- out data are transmitted through a light emitting element 24. |
