In the case of conventional multipole contact strips, for example having contact elements (such as contact blades, contact springs etc.) arranged in two parallel rows, the contact elements (2) run in straight lines from one side to the other side of the contact strip. In consequence, the connecting points on the contact strip run laterally interchanged in straight lines when viewed from the front side or rear side. In certain applications, this can lead to incorrect connections. A contact strip is proposed which precludes such incorrect connections. The contact strip has contact elements (2) which are constructed in such a manner that their one connection side is offset with respect to the other connection side by the distance between the parallel rows, the two connection sides being at the same level. The two connections of a contact element (2) are in consequence crossed, thus preventing lateral incorrect connection. <IMAGE>
