An application tool (13) for glue and similar application masses which can dry out is held, easily removably, on a mounting (38) in a storage area (10) which is closed airtightly from the exterior by a flap cover (19) which can be pivoted up, and forms in the lower part a liquid reservoir (49) with an evaporation surface (50) extending over the whole floor of the area. The pressure plunger (61) of a pump (53) is actuated on each pivoting action via a flap cover (15) which closes an access opening (54) to the storage area (10). The said pump supplies spray nozzles (55) in a pulsed fashion for spraying onto the application roller (60 and 58) for spraying into the tool receiving part (40) for application mass. A delivery opening, which can be closed by a slider (27), for application mass from a raised supply container (8) is fitted above the feed opening (39) for replenishing the receiving part (40). In each working pause, it is only necessary to set the application tool (13) on its mounting (38) and to open the slider (27) briefly. In the replenishment process, the tool is thus moistened and an atmosphere of increased moisture content is produced in the storage area (10). <IMAGE>
