The floor of a rail vehicle (1, 1') is described, in which floor floor plates which are laid one next to the other are surrounded along their adjacent edges by common rigid connecting profiles (2) and are borne by steel carriers (4). Between the steel carriers (4) and the floor which consists of the floor plates (1, 1') and connecting profiles (2), an elastic intermediate layer (3) is arranged over the whole surface, on which layer (3) the floor (1, 1', 2) rests freely. <IMAGE>
