PURPOSE:To facilitate the transportation and handling of a zeolite builder by adding a specified percentage of water to zeolite and forming wet zeolite builder moldings to prevent cohesion between particles. CONSTITUTION:A filtered and washed of zeolite particles having <=1mum maximum primary particle size and >=100mg/g Ca ion exchange capacity as anhydride is slurried with a high-speed agitator, and this slurry is sprayed into a hot air stream from a nozzle an dried to a water content corresponding to 43-98, preferably 50-85% of the solid retaining limit water content of zeolite particles (on the basis of anhydride). The water content is of a limiting point where zeolite particles show properties similar to those of an ordinary solid without showing dilatancy in a zeolite particle-water system. The dried particles are then granulated to manufacture wet zeolite builder moldings showing >=70 deg. angle of repose and <=10% sieve residual rate due to cohesion when redispersed. |
