The braking and control apparatus intended for a ski has brake members (16) fixed to both skis which are secured at the rear end of each of the ski runners (10) so that they can pivot. The brake members (16) are each held in their position of rest by means of a spring (32). A cable (22) connects each of the brake members (16) to a brake lever (30) fixed to the ski stick (26). When the brake lever (30) is actuated, the cable (22) is pulled and this pivots the brake member (16) into its active position against the force of the spring (32). <IMAGE>
