THERMAL-FORMING PROCESSES

A process for manufacturing a shaped thermoplastic product having reduced internal shrinkage stress by thermally forming a thermoplastic material and cooling the shaped material rapidly until the surface has cooled to an upper critical temperature T0 and then reducing the temperature gradient within the product until the termoplastic has cooled to a lower critical temperature T1. The critical temperatures are determined by the VICAT method for penetrations of 0.1 mm (T0) and 1 mm (T1).
