<p>The method and machine are concerned with tying rotobales of fibrous matter such as hay, straw, fodder etc. The method involves cutting off the supply of fibrous matter when a bale (1) is finished while continuing to cause it to rotate. At the same time, the cord (3) is introduced into the interior of the bale-forming chamber (8) using a cord feeder (11) moving along a line parallel to the axis of the bale (1) so as to wind each cord (3) helically around the bale (1). Each feeder (11) is stopped at the end of a run, while letting the bale make at least one turn inside the bale-forming chamber (8) so as to have at least two superimposed turns of cord (3) wound around the bale (1). The superimposed turns are joined together before cutting each cord (3). In a preferred method of operation, the superimposed turns of cord (3) are joined together by stapling using a stapler (13). <IMAGE></p> |
