PURPOSE:To achieve conversion of radiation image using a novel stimulative phosphor by absorbing radiation from an object to be tested in a phosphor having a specified compsn. and irradiating the phosphor with electromagnetic wave having a wavelength within a specified range. CONSTITUTION:Radiation having transmitted an object to be photographed is absorbed by a phosphor 13 comprising a hydrohalide of an alkaline earth metal activated with divalent europium expressed by the formula, and the phosphor 13 is irradiated with electromagnetic wave in 560-1000nm wavelength region from a light source 14, thus, radiation energy accumulated in the phosphor 13 is discharged as stimulating light. The stimulating light is received by a photoelectric conversion device 15 through a filter 18, and the output is fed to a picture image display device through a picture image reproducing device 16.
