PURPOSE:To enable a leading end of a printing paper to be protruded automatically and accuately, by a method wherein a rugged pattern of a fold of a foldedtype printing paper is detected by a reflective-type photoelectric sensor, and the fold is used as a reference for feeding the paper. CONSTITUTION:A projected part 7a and a recessed part 7b of a fold ofthe paper 7 are detected respectively by reflective-type photoelectric sensor 9, 9', the detection signals are inputted into comparing circuits 22, 26 through filter circuits 20, 24 and amplifiers 21, 25, and are compared with threshold values VTH1, VTH2 set by reference signal setters 35, 36, respectively. When the detection signals exceed the threshold values, fold detection pulses P1, P2 are outputted, respectively. The pulses P1, P2 are inputted into a printer-controlling circuit 29 through wave-shaping circuits 23, 27 and an OR circuit 28, whereby the passage of the fold is detected. With a leading end protruding switch 32 turned ON, feeding of the paper is started by a driver 30 and a motor 31, and in reponse to a fold detection pulse input, the controlling circuit 29 controls the driver 30 so as to feed the paper by a predetermined amount from the time of the input, thereby automatically protruding the leading end of the paper. |
