PURPOSE:To obtain a stable CCD output without being affected by heat dissipation of a fluorescent lamp or the variance of circuit components by monitoring the CCD output and comparing it with a stored peak value so as to manage the temperature of the fluorescent light. CONSTITUTION:The fluorescent lamps 6-8 are connected respectively to a CPU17 via lighting circuits 11-13. Heaters 9, 10 are connected to the CPU17 via drive circuits 14, 15 respectively. A CCD sensor 5 is connected to the CPU17 via an amplifier circuit 16. The CPU17 detects a peak value of the output of the CCD sensor 5 and stores it and compares it with an output of the CCD sensor read at a prescribed period. Then the CPU17 controls the heaters 9, 10 so that the output of the CCD sensor 5 is kept to a peak value or a value close thereto thereby managing the temperature of the fluorescent lamps 6-8.
