<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a gas separation membrane having improved permeability coefft. for oxygen with eliminated inferiority of compatibility by using a silylated polyphenylene ether having contitutional units consisting of an organosilane or siloxane group. CONSTITUTION:The membrane is constituted of a porous supporting aid having a thin thickness coated with a silylated polyphenylene ether comprising constitutional units contg. an organosilane or siloxane expressed by the formula (wherein R1, R2, R3, and R4 are each independently H, or a group expressed by -Si(R5) (R6)(R7);R5, R6, and R7 are alkyl or alkoxy independently to each other; R1, R2, R3, and R4 are not H at the same time; l and n are integers 0-3; m is an integer 1-3). The coating of the silylated polyphenylene ether is executed by impregnating or coating a soln. of silylated polyphenylene ether in a solvent which does not dissolve the porous thin supporting body by casting the soln. on the supporting body and removing the solvent by drying. Suitable solvents are benzene, toluene, chloroform, etc. and suitable supporting body is Japanese paper, nonwoven cloth, filter paper, filtration membrane, etc.</p> |
