INSERT METHOD OF LINER BY DIE-CASTING

PURPOSE:To unite and bond surely a brass liner and an Al casting in the stage of die-casting the Al casting to the brass liner by plating preliminarily Ni to the outside peripheral surface of the liner thereby forming an intermetallic compd. between the liner and the casting. CONSTITUTION:The Ni is preliminarily plated 11 to the outside peripheral surface of the brass liner 7 and the Al casting 6 is die-cast via the plating 11 to the outside periphery of the liner 7 with respect to a method for forming a cylinder block, etc. by die-casting the Al casting to the brass liner. The intermetallic compd. such as Ni2-Al3 or Cu-Al2 is formed between the liner 7 and the casting 6 and the liner 7 is integrally bonded to the casting 6 by said compd. The sure bonding of the brass liner and the Al casting is thus made possible and the need for working to stop sliding between both is eliminated.
