PURPOSE:To the quantity of crosstalk of an optical transmission network which uses cables composed of multicore optical fibers by providing a lateral pressure part or bent part to optical fibers of an optical line network. CONSTITUTION:It is evident in a graph that when a lateral pressure load is increased, an increase in the loss of crosstalk light is larger than that of signal light. For example, when the lateral pressure load is 5kg/40cm, the increase in the loss of the light signal is about 0.3dB, but the increase in the loss of the crosstalk light is about 8dB. Consequently, the application of the lateral pressure increases the increase in the loss of the crosstalk light sufficiently as compared with the increase in the loss of the light signal, so the crosstalk is reduced without lowering the light power level of the light signal. The figure shows an example of line constitution where a lateral pressure part 8 is provided to each connection point 7 in a subscriber optical line network composed of a multicore optical fiber 6. |
